General osteopathic consultation
Back pain is the most common reason to consult an osteopath, but the approach addresses many functional disorders, from newborns to older adults. Every consultation is personalized: the aim is to find the origin of the problem, not just the spot that hurts.

When to consult
Reasons for consulting vary widely. Among the most common:
- Back pain, lower back pain and lumbago
- Neck pain, stiff neck and mid-back pain
- Neuralgia, sprains, muscle injuries and tendinitis
- Whiplash after-effects and headaches of mechanical origin
- Functional digestive disorders: reflux, nausea, intestinal complaints
- Jaw pain and teeth grinding
- Stress, nervous tension and sleep disorders
What the first consultation involves
The session starts with a detailed conversation: reason for consulting, history of the symptoms, personal and family history, lifestyle. This helps identify events that may be linked to your problem.
An examination follows: observation, palpation and mobility tests, supplemented by basic medical tests. Together they allow an osteopathic diagnosis to be made.
Treatment is manual and adapted to your situation. If osteopathy is not suitable for your case, you are referred to another health professional.
A whole-body approach
For an osteopath, the body's systems are interdependent. The area treated is therefore not limited to where it hurts: underlying causes and their effects on other structures are also sought.
Depending on needs, techniques may be structural, functional (so-called “gentle” techniques), cranial or visceral.
Tailored follow-up
The number of sessions varies with the condition and the person. Progress is reviewed at each consultation to adjust what comes next, with no long-term commitment.
Osteopathy does not replace medical advice. In case of intense pain, fever or any unusual symptom, see your doctor first.
